HOPE 08

Hope 08 is a national initiative to support local churches in community outreatch both serving and witnessing among our families, friends and neighbours The Leadership Team would like Seedfield to be involved in this and also use the next few months as a time of evaluation to review our ongoing work and witness in the local community The Hope 08 resource book highlights 5 key points throughout the year under the following headings

•Fresh hope - early in the New year e g lifestyle courses
•Big hope - Easter activities + message
•Hope where you live - ‘Loving your neighbour’ youth events, community action projects,
holiday clubs, family fun days etc (Early May onwards, throughout the summer hols)
•Hope explored - faith-based courses eg. Alpha
•The gift of hope - Christmas events
 

The book also contains numerous possible activities plus helpful resource contacts

Clearly, it is impossible for every local church to do everything! We want to do what we can, build on our current range of skills and gifts and work together in teams Please can all core groups consider ways we could realistically be involved Already Formation (discipleship) and the prayer core groups have been approached to investigate the possibility of another 4 week study and prayer series (for Feb. 08) based on a DVD: ‘Praying for Revival’ to help us prepare for more regular outreach.
 

Other suggestions include a Fair Trade event, family fun days, a flower festival, ALPHA course/s and youth community action projects etc. The possibilities are always endless but we do need to prioritise and not try to do too much all at once!

During January, I plan to call a meeting of core group co-ordinators + steward reps. to pool ideas + prioritise possible Hope 08 events. If you’re interested in or feel called by God to evangelism/outreach please do come along and get involved! Alternatively, if you can’t attend the meeting, you can forward any ideas/offers of help to the relevant core group co-ordinator or stewardrep.!
