HABARI za TURKANA News from the Edaples June 2006

We hope that you are all well. We are all well although Ben and Cloe both have colds. We recently got back from a shopping/relaxing time in Eldoret (8-9 hour drive) which was great. Ali hadn’t been out of Turkana for four and a half months! It was great to have time with friends and give the kids a variety of foods we don’t have here.

One reason Ali had not travelled for months was that she has been waiting for a baby to be born. Not ours...but for an HIV friend who had asked her to assist in the birth. It was an honour and a privilege to be present and helpfulat the birth aof Ali-Joy

Keshule has also been busy. He has expanded his business to include welding as well as puncture repair and battery charging!! He has also visited a rather remote area which has no church. Together with another loal missionary they intend to see how they can work with the local people to disciple new Christians, and encourage a deeper faith in those already Christian.

Ben and Chloe are both enjoying school. They come home when they are chatting in Kiswahili which is really great to hear!!

Maybe you have heard that Ali’s Nanna died in April. It was a hard time to be away from family in the U.K. But also surprisingly a time of refreshing and increase as God showed Ali so much. We have found that many times God has used challenges to make us develop our character!! We have been so much reminded that God’s desire is to have time with Him so that we can grow intimacy with Him. We have learned that there is really no place better than to be in the presence of God. After a long time of spiritual trudging (Ali especially) there is now a lightness of Holy Spirit presence. Tank you to each of you who prays for us. We have always tried to give out the love of God, but these days there seems to be a freshness in how we serve God!!

It feels like a long time since we have seen our friends and family in the UK! Hopefully it will not be too much longer!! We are planning to visit from around the end of October for a few months!! We are really looking forward to this time and hope to see and share with as many of you as possible. * We have a favour to ask.....If during that time anyone has a car they could let us use...for a week, a month, two days....we’d love to hear from you as we will travel quit a a bit between Norwich, Chelmsford and Bury!! *.....* Also pray for Keshule’s visa application which he should start early September!!

PRAYER

• Thank god for safe delivery of Ali-Joy
• Thank God for the friends we have here and the sense of ‘home’ we have.
• Thank God for his continued provision for us and for Keshule’s shop to do well
• Drought has hit Turkana hard. Pray for fair distribution of relief and for rain at the right time.
