WYCLIFFEUK Annual Report from Steve & Rosalind Bagwell wycliffe For Supporting Constituency and Other Friends January - December 2006 Goals set for the year To continue working in our Africa Area (AM) roles This included Steve’s oversight of the logistics of the SIL and Wycliffe’s Africa Leaders Meetings in May. Work you have done this year Steve: My role was Director for Administration for SI!.. Africa Area. In this role I assist and report to the Africa Area Director and serve as a part of the Area Directorate Team. Five AF Coordinators as well as the Nairobi Regional Services Managing Director report to me. Ros: I have continued doing the bookkeeping work for the Africa Area finance office. This year I have been training a Kenyan (Jane Mutiso) to take over different aspects of my role. Highlights of the year include Steve: Successfully overseeing logistics of the Africa Leaders Meetings in May. Setbacks or disappointments encountered Laura’s health was a concern for us for two months at the end of the year when she was not able to walk. We had to home school her during that time, as her school is not wheelchair-friendly. Trying to balance home schooling, work and appointments at hospitals, with doctors and with a physiotherapist was stressful. Plans for the coming year Work Steve: I will be continuing in my current role. Ros: I am willing to continue in my current role although I will be seeking to find out if the Lord has different work for me to do after our furlough. Support level It is adequate for our current situation but probably not for the next year due to 30% increase in house rent, increased school fees, 400% increase of work permit fees, a lower dollar/Kenyan shilling exchange rate plus Kenyan taxes. Health We are keeping fairly healthy at present Ros continues to suffer from migraines. The physiotherapist has given Laura a set of exercises to do three times each day to deal with weak areas and short muscles. Family situation, including wider family (where relevant) We are planning for Laura to attend a different school next academic year due to difficult social dynamics in her current class. Parents are getting older! Any other matters We have a very short furlough this summer with only 4! days in the UK and the same in California. Education is the limiting factor for our furlough. Laura has to double her workload at the beginning of May so that she completes the coursework before we leave May 16th school actually ends May 31st). Location: Nairobi, Kenya Dated: 17th April 2007
